Emergency Medical Service

Jackson County Hospital District Emergency Medical Services (JCHD EMS) was established in August 2011.

Mission Statement

We, the employees of the Jackson County Hospital District Emergency Medical Service, are committed to the delivery of compassionate and professional pre-hospital care to the communities we serve through the pursuit of excellence, effective leadership, and positive relationships. We will be attentive to our client's needs and will strive to provide continual improvement and effective use of our resources.

General Information

JCHD EMS operates seven mobile intensive care unit (MICU) ambulances. Two in-service ambulances and personnel are stationed in the City of Edna. One in-service ambulance and personnel are stationed in the City of Ganado. Each ambulance is staffed with two crew members certified by the Texas Department of State and Health Services. These ambulances are ready to respond 24/7/365.

The additional ambulances are response-ready and are staffed as needed with an all-call system in place. JCHD EMS also has three command support vehicles available to respond 24/7 as an additional resource when needed. Between the two station locations, seven MICU ambulances, three command vehicles, and a staff of 23 full-time employees and 10 part-time employees, the JCHD EMS covers all 857 square miles (approximately 530,560 acres) of Jackson County.

JCHD EMS responds to all 911 calls and provides emergency and non-emergency medical transfers for the hospital and the nursing home facilities in Jackson County and county residents. In addition, JCHD EMS provides special event medical coverage within the county, such as football games for Ganado ISD, Industrial ISD, Edna ISD, rodeos, the Jackson County Youth Fair, etc. We also provide outreach educational programs throughout the county some of which are free of charge.

JCHD EMS works with and oversees the established First Responder Organizations (FRO) in our county:

• ESD #2, which services the southernmost part of our county including but not limited to the Cape Carancahua Community, along with Hwy 35 within our county boundaries
• ESD #3 Fire Department, which services the Edna ISD boundaries
