Alvin Svoboda & Sister Reunited Before Thanksgiving

Kim Hicks, Owner at Grow In Grace Senior Living LLC, shared that she posted Mr. Svoboda’s wishes to see his sister in person on Facebook and was overwhelmed at the outpouring of support. Donna Coleman at Jackson County Hospital District learned of the request and immediately responded to facilitate the transportation of Ms. Oehl from the facility in Shiner to Grow In Grace Senior Living in Ganado to reunite the siblings.

"We were honored to facilitate this reunion in person between two siblings. Alvin Svoboda has been a long-standing presence in Jackson County and our team was delighted to orchestrate bringing the siblings together before the Thanksgiving holiday," said Lance Smiga, CEO of Jackson County Hospital District.

Additionally, Hicks shared that Ms. Oehl expressed a desire to meet Pixie, the small monkey that brings joy to residents at Grow in Grace Senior Assisted Living. Pixie was present at the reunion, fulfilling this special request.
Hicks shared, “Pixie brings such joy to our residents and Ms. Charlene had seen photos on social media of Pixie with her brother. We are overjoyed that this reunion is happening and that Ms. Charlene got to meet Pixie."
